The art log of David de Lara

October was a whirlwind of a month. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to be David de Lara the artist for most of it. My month was spent taking care of family business followed by an escape to New Orleans during Halloween weekend. For November, I’ve promised myself to get back to work on some longstanding ideas for artwork and photo shoots.

I’ve kept a notebook filled with ideas for several years. There are all sorts of phrases to act as a catalyst and descriptions of visual concepts I’d like to play with in it. These ideas come to me randomly and I have to write them down before I forget them. Some of the work I’ve done started out as an inspiration I got in middle of the night and scribbled in the notebook, a thought I had while on a trip and wrote on hotel stationary, or something that came to me while I was in the living room and put down on a post-it note (as you can tell, I use a lot of post-it notes). There are still many I haven’t gotten to though. I’ll be resolving that dilemma soon.

Above are a few photos of my notebook and the artwork or photograph that came from it.
